Robot vacuums and mops are increasingly capable, acing our tests for cleaning and taking on different types of floors. Choose models that permit users to select between different types, including self-emptying and clean stairs.
Many of the best models work with your smartphone. Look for an application that lets you save maps, schedules and select cleaning modes.
1. Eufy Omni S1 Pro
The gunmetal and gloss black Omni S1 Pro from Eufy is among the most impressive mop and robot vacuum combos available. It uses lidar to navigate, create maps of rooms and floors (even multiple levels), and works with the free Eufy Clean app to let you set schedules and alter the S1's behaviour.
The S1 was able to map my downstairs quickly, which has linoleum in the kitchen, dining area, and bathrooms and a medium-pile and a large rug. It was capable of driving up to walls and even over thresholds that are raised without issue. However it had some issues getting down the stairs in one go. The S1 also did a great job cleaning hard floors, with its mop driving smoothly on the flat side against the floor and lifting itself when it was near carpet or rug.
Before each mopping session, the docking station of the S1 automatically emptys its dust bin and refills the water tank onboard with clean filtered ozonated water. The dock also includes a cleaning solution in the water to ensure deep cleaning. The S1 water tank can hold enough for 12 mopping sessions, however this will vary based on how often you use the mop.
Like all 2-in-1 robots, the S1 requires regular maintenance to ensure it is operating efficiently. You'll need to periodically rinse out the tank that has been contaminated to prevent it from becoming clogged. You'll also need to clean the swivel wheels and sensors regularly to prevent them from getting blocked by dust or dirt. However, overall, the S1 is simple to maintain, especially when compared to other combinations that require more hands-on maintenance.
2. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo Complete
Ecovacs all-in-one robotic vacuum and mop provides an effective solution for cleaning. Its navigation capabilities are pretty robust, however it can sometimes get caught up on the tiny area mats or rugs that I have in my home (which is something you can reduce by defining a virtual boundary in the app). Its mopping is quite good as well, with a pair of spin mops that actually lift and scrub floors, instead of simply dragging the pad across it. The mops are cleaned using heated water and dried in the base station as required. The mops are also filled from the top of the base station as needed.
3. Dreame X40 ultra
Dreame released the luxe X30 Ultra earlier this year, but their new top-of-the-line robot mop and vacuum has more impressive features. It has outstanding cleaning performance and hands-off maintenance which makes it a strong contender for our best mop and robot vacuum list. Its superior mapping capabilities, RGB AI smart recognition and a longer side brush guarantee a thorough, custom-designed clean.
The X40 Ultra does an excellent job of vacuuming, picking up large and fine particles from hard floors as well as carpets. It also cleaned our test's most filthy areas well, and eliminating pet hairs that are tangled and other messes. The sweeping power is enhanced by a side brush that automatically swings out to tackle hard-to-reach corners, as well as an extended mop pad that deploys alongside baseboards.
Its navigation system is nimble that can navigate tiny spaces and negotiating stairs without stepping back. It can easily move from one room to another without changing direction, which is a handy feature for homes with many rooms. That's why it's important to use your regular vacuum once a week, especially to pick up dust in corners, on shelves, and in the corners of your couch. Roborock's Q5 Pro is a 2-in-1 vacuum and mop robot that was designed to do exactly that. It's easy to connect to your WiFI network at home and works with Alexa or Apple Siri.
The Q5 is an unadorned version of the company's more pricier S-series models, including the flagship Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra. It has the same LIDAR mapping sensor, but it saves cost by removing the mopping functionality and by using a lower-cost plastic body.
The Q5 remains one of the most powerful mopping and vacuums we've seen at this price, even though it's not equipped to clean your floors. It has a suction power of 5500Pa and an automatic-empty system that means you don't have to empty the bin by hand each time. It also features a smart application that lets you choose the type of floor and schedule cleanings, and an automatic water tank refill and wash system to allow hands-free operation.
The mops are also quite impressive with 2700Pa of power to take on dust, dirt, and pet hair on hard floors and carpets. The Q5 is one of the few robots we test that didn't have issues with high-pile carpets or area rug, but it was unable to pick up cables or kitty litter and cable tangles, which isn't a surprise given that it doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance.
5. K10 Plus
K10 Plus is one of the most quiet robovacs that we have tested. It also uses a unique system to map your home. This will allow it to enter the corners and tight spaces that other vacuums can't reach. It also stores dust in a larger bin that means you have to empty it less often. It also has washable filters that further lower the cost of using the device. The robot can also recognize carpets and increase suction if needed. The app allows you to mark off areas you want to stay clear of this is a useful feature.
